Coaching Facilities at Saffron Walden Golf Club:
The FlightScope X2 is the most advanced launch monitor that is available today. The unit utilises a Doppler radar system that is used in the defence industry to track aircraft missiles and in much the same way it tracks the ball's flight. This allows us to accurately see the launch angle and the spin rates of the ball during the flight. By optimising these details we are able fit the you with the perfect club for your game!
Explanar Golf Training
Saffron Walden Golf Club recently purchased the internationally acclaimed Explanar Golf Training System. This system improves consistency, accuracy, distance and power through the use of an adjustable swing plane hoop and a power roller. As we have both the adult and junior machines, this can enable golfers of all ages to improve their game.
For further information on the machine please visit the Explanar website.
Practice Putting Green
Our new practice putting green is located near the first tee, together with 4 driving nets to get into the swing before your round. Our brand new Short Game practice Area is the best facility in the county, providing players the chance to replicate shots from all lies and stances as if on the course. Built containing a large number of different grasses, all cut to different lengths, you will not find a more comprehensive area within which to practice your short game. The area is so excellent that internationally respected Professional and Coach Scott Cranfield heard about it and asked to use it for one of his lessons with a pupil based in the area!
Putting GreenIn conjunction with the above we have a recently renovated practice range with all playing areas fully covered with Huxley Turf - the best artificial surface to hit golf balls from. There are distance markers for the full distance of the range, as well as practice flags to aim at. There is also a small practice bunker to tidy up your short bunker shots.
Two common faults I often see with a driver set up when teaching are; weight too left sided , and open shoulder alignment. These are both caused by the alteration with the ball position for the driver. As it's moved left in the stance for a right handed player, the weight tends to go with it, and the shoulders open at the same time. Read more.......
